We use Cogntive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help people get better sleep. CBT helps people change the mindsets and habits that are interefering with their sleep, and often includes:

  • Reducing unwanted medications (e.g. sleeping pills).

  • Learning relaxation skills that make it easier to fall asleep (e.g. breathing, muscle relaxation, wind down routines).

  • Making your bedroom more comforable and nicer to sleep in (e.g. reducing noise, light, and temperature; and using pleasant essential oils)

  • Establishing healthy habits that support sleep (e.g. exercise, healthy diet).

  • Reducing stimulants that make it hard to fall asleep (e.g. stress, caffeine, nicotine).

  • Reducing things that wake you up at night (e.g. alcohol, toilet breaks, noise).

  • Managing time better, to break the habit of staying up too late (e.g. working, binge watching shows, using devices).

  • Learning how to manage the anxiety and perfectionism that keeps you awake
